We’re Obsessed with Soil Health
Our herd of 40 crossbred Fleckvieh, Jersey, and Holstein cows graze on lush, irrigated pastures, managed with cutting-edge fertigation techniques in partnership with John Kempf’s Advancing Eco Agriculture. We’re obsessed with soil health, creating well-aggregated soils with deep pore spaces that allow roots and water to thrive, resulting in milk rich in vitamins, minerals, and flavor.

Invest in nutrient-packed food - and a healthier planet
In collaboration with Edacious, the nation’s leading laboratory for nutrient density testing under Eric Smith’s leadership, we ensure unparalleled transparency and quality. When you join our herd share, you’re not just getting milk—you’re investing in a healthier planet and nutrient-packed food.

FAQ
A herdshare allows you to become a part-owner of a cow (or herd), giving you legal access to the raw milk it produces. This model is how we legally provide raw, unpasteurized milk in California. But it's more than logistics—by joining, you're helping bring pasture-raised, on-site milked raw dairy to life in Southern California, creating a beautiful, regenerative alternative to industrial dairy systems. You're investing in food sovereignty, building community, and ensuring the availability of truly nourishing milk for future generations.
Your membership includes an initial herd share purchase, weekly access to raw milk, monthly boarding and bottling services and weekly pickup at a San Diego/specified location
Yes—you own a legal share of the herd. This is what gives you the right to receive raw milk under California law.
The one-time share purchase of $175 per share secures your spot in the herd. It’s your “buy-in” as a legal co-owner and is required to begin your membership. We have 4 different membership share size options: One share receiving 4 gallons a month (1 gal/week) for $88/month; Two shares receiving 8 gallons a month (2 gals/week) for $176/month; Three shares receiving 12 gallons a month (3 gals/week) for $264/month; or Four shares receiving 16 gallons per month (4 gals/week) for $352/month.
These monthly fees cover the ongoing care, feeding, milking, and bottling of your cow’s milk. Think of it as your cow’s monthly rent—plus packaging and labor to bottle your milk.
Our cows are grazed on fresh pasture daily, milked by hand or machine on-site, and the milk is immediately bottled at the source. This ensures freshness, traceability, and zero processing.
Yes, we regularly test for pathogens, somatic cell counts, and cleanliness. While raw milk is not pasteurized, we follow strict cleanliness protocols to ensure the safety and integrity of every bottle.
On our regenerative farm, right here in Southern California. The cows graze outdoors on fresh pasture and are milked and cared for on-farm with love and attention. During dry seasons they are occasionally supplemented with NON-GMO alfalfa.
While we are not currently certified organic, our practices exceed organic standards. The cows are 100% pasture raised, rotationally grazed, and milked on pastures, which is a calf friendly operation.
Milk is kept cold from bottling to delivery, transported in a refrigerated truck with coolers and insulated containers, and handed off directly at your pickup site.
Monthly memberships can be canceled with at least 7 days’ notice before the next billing cycle. Initial share purchases are non-refundable, as they represent your legal investment in the herd.
Yes, you can pause or cancel your membership with advance notice.
All payments are processed online—both the initial share purchase and your ongoing monthly fees. There are no payments made on-site.
No. All payments are handled in advance through our secure online system. Milk is only distributed at the pickup site—no purchases or cash exchanges happen there.
FAMILIES LOVE PERENNIAL PASTURES
EXCELLENT!!!
The Perennial Pastures team was fantastic. This was my first-time ordering a half cow. I was little intimated & had a lot of questions. But,the PP Team answered all my questions, made the purchase & delivery simple & easy. Brian was the team member that did the actual delivery & he was friendly & especially kind to my 9 year old son that was curious about the meats. Brian answered all his questions. Very cool. - Gregg S.
GREAT BEEF
This was my first time purchasing a bulk beef order and it couldn't have gone any smoother! All three people I had contact with were friendly, helpful and organized. They kept me informed each step of the way from order, slaughter, packaging and delivery. The beef tastes great and the ancestral ground beef was a delicious option! - John K.
DELICIOUS MEAT
We've already cooked 2 roasts and ribs from our half a cow order. Everything has tasted delicious! We are experimenting with different ways of cooking and seasoning. Very happy with the order and the delivery. Matt kept in touch and coordinated the meet up in AZ. Grateful for all involved in the raising, butchering and delivery of grass fed/grass finished beef! We appreciate regenerative farming!! Keep up the good work!! - Kathy S.
Amazing grass fed quality from a local farmer.
Best food purchase I've ever made. I had been ordering small amounts of beef every couple days so getting this much all at once significantly cut out constant orders and deliveries. Since I follow a carnivore diet it's perfect with the mass amount of different cuts; varieties of steaks, roasts, & ground beef is enough to keep it interesting and fun. - Devon L.
